First Meeting of the Issue Management Group on a Green Economy March 2010
Introduction to the meeting
|
The Issue Management Group on a Green Economy will meet for the first time on 23rd -24th March 2010, hosted by the World Bank in Washington, DC. The meeting will:
1. Review existing, planned and ongoing work and processes, especially inter-agency efforts, in order to ensure these are complementary. It will also decide how to contribute to these processes, such as the preparatory process for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012.
2. Discuss conceptual issues with a view to developing a shared vision and consistent messaging. The term “green economy” is increasingly being used without there necessarily being a precise definition or common understanding of the conceptual issues underlying the term.
3. Review existing work among the EMG member organizations and the status of relevant activities, both globally and at country level, in each agency.
4. Undertake an initial discussion of the potential contribution of each agency to the transition to a green economy.
