Intergovernmental Strategic Plan for Capacity Building and Technology Support (ISP)

Further to the request of the 8th Special Session of the UNEP Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF) in February of 2004, the EMG decided at its 7th meeting to take up the issue of the Intergovernmental Strategic Plan for Capacity Building and Technology Support (ISP) that is currently being developed under the aegis of a High level Working Group of the UNEP Governing Council.

At that meeting, the EMG decided to continue its work on capacity building in the areas of biological diversity and chemicals management and to provide the results as an input into the ISP process.

It was also decided to establish a new issue management group, co-chaired by UNDP and UNEP, to provide a further broad perspective to the process with regard to the work of UN Agencies and Organisations.
