UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has referred to climate change as the “defining challenge of our time”. He is committed to lead by example by developing an outstanding climate-neutral approach for the UN’s premises and operations.

The UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination has therefore adopted a decision on moving towards a climate-neutral United Nations.

A network of climate neutral focal points has been set up across the agencies, funds and programmes of the UN system to implement this decision.

The Climate Neutral UN website shares information, tools and best practice, to inspire and assist UN agencies, funds and programs and others who are committed to take the three essential steps towards climate neutrality: Setting up an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions, initiating emissions reductions and offsetting any remaining emissions.
