Improved coherence and synergies in the United Nation's system-wide response to environment and human settlement issues

The EMG aims to identify and address, collectively, specific problems and issues on the international environment and human settlements agenda requiring enhanced inter-agency cooperation within a given time-frame through securing effective and collaborative involvement of the relevant United Nations system agencies, programmes and organs, and other potential partners. It also seeks to provide a forum for an early discussion and sharing of information on emerging problems and issues in the field of environment and human settlements, geared at finding collectively the most effective coordinated approach to address them.

In order to contribute collectively to the development of practical solutions to specific environment and human settlement issues the EMG, since its establishment in 2001, has addressed the following issues:
